But if there’s one thing David loves, it’s climbing. He has only been climbing for three years, but he has always accompanied his parents -also climbers- to all the walls they have been on.
When he’s not climbing, he likes to draw on paper the movements of the routes he makes: “I like to draw the routes mainly for two reasons. First, because it entertains me, but it’s also a very good exercise as a tool to remember the movements. Sometimes I even draw imaginary tracks,” says David.
At the age of 13 he climbed his first 8c+, ‘El Calvario del Sicario’, and at 14 his first 9a with ‘Esclatamasters’. In addition, in 2023 he set himself the goal of climbing 100 octavos and he achieved it -among them 13 routes from 8c to 8c+-.
Despite this, it’s not the numbers that obsess him. What David wants is to be able to climb for the rest of his life – and as much as he can. However, he looks for routes that attract him, not only because of the difficulty, but also because of the history behind them. That’s why he decided to travel to Frankenjura (Germany) to climb ‘Wallstreet’, which was the first 8c in history.
